Замечено: живёт недолго тот,
Кто дней текущих не берёт в расчёт.
Замечено: того недолог век,
Где прошлого не помнит человек,
Где он дрожит, где падает во прах,
Пред будущим испытывая страх,
Где, сколько ни сменил бы он жилищ,
В любом из них и жалок он, и нищ.
	Но кто же долгожители меж нас?
	Кто мудрость не теряет всякий час.

His life is short, who present times neglects, 
	Feares times to come, and hath past-times forgot: 
Or rather, while he breaths his Age, hee makes 
	A base abode in time, but liveth not; 
For onely hee leades, in judicious eyes, 
The longest life, who lives, till he be wise.
