* * *

There was a Young Lady of Portugal,
Whose ideas were excessively nautical:
She climbed up a tree,
To examine the sea,
But declared she would never leave Portugal.

Edward Lear's other poems:
  1. There Was An Old Man Of Kilkenny
  2. He Lived at Dingle Bank
  3. There Was An Old Man Of Vienna
  4. There Was An Old Man Of Coblenz
  5. There Was an Old Man of Madras
