Walt Whitman (Уолт Уитмен)

Leaves of Grass. 34. Sands at Seventy. 27. To Get the Final Lilt of Songs

To get the final lilt of songs,
To penetrate the inmost lore of poets—to know the mighty ones,
Job, Homer, Eschylus, Dante, Shakespere, Tennyson, Emerson;
To diagnose the shifting-delicate tints of love and pride and doubt—
      to truly understand,
To encompass these, the last keen faculty and entrance-price,
Old age, and what it brings from all its past experiences.

Walt Whitman's other poems:
  1. Leaves of Grass. 5. Calamus. 29. Earth, My Likeness
  2. Leaves of Grass. 24. Autumn Rivulets. 13. Out from Behind This Mask [To Confront a Portrait]
  3. Leaves of Grass. 24. Autumn Rivulets. 20. Thought
  4. Leaves of Grass. 24. Autumn Rivulets. 27. Others May Praise What They Like
  5. Leaves of Grass. 35. Good-Bye My Fancy. 17. A Christmas Greeting
