Poem by Emily Elizabeth Dickinson

* * *

MY nosegays are for captives;
   Dim, long-expectant eyes,
Fingers denied the plucking,
   Patient till paradise.

To such, if they should whisper
   Of morning and the moor,
They bear no other errand,
   And I, no other prayer.
