Poem by Lucy Larcom

Thy Kingdom Come

SOMETIMES a vision comes to me
Of what Thy world was meant to be;
Thy beauty all things shining through,
Thy love in all the works we do.

I shade my spirit's dazzled sight
Before the splendor of that light:
Earth crowned with heaven's pure diadem,
The Bride, the new Jerusalem!

For this alone didst Thou descend,
O Son of God, man's glorious Friend,
From Thy dear Father's throne of bliss; —
That human life might be as His.

Thy Kingdom come, our souls within!
Where Thou art, is no room for sin:
Oh. show us what our lives may be,
Led home to Him, by following Thee!
