Poem by George Rostrevor Hamilton

Tugs

At noon three English dowagers ride
Stiff of neck and dignified,
Margaret, Maud and Mary Blake,
With servile barges in their wake:
But silhouetted at midnight
Darkly, by green and crimson light,
Three Nubian queens pass down the Thames
Stately with flashing gems.
