Alexander Pope (Александр Поуп)

Lines on Curll

So when Curll's Stomach the strong Drench o'ercame,
(Infus'd in Vengenance of insulted Fame)
Th' Avenger sees, with a delighted Eye,
His long Jaws open, and his Colour fly;
And while his Guts the keen Emeticks urge,
Smiles on the Vomit, and enjoys the Purge.

Alexander Pope's other poems:
  1. Ode on St. Cecilia's Day
  2. Occasioned by Some Verses of His Grace the Duke of Buckingham
  3. Epistle to Miss Blount, On Her Leaving the Town, After the Coronation
  4. Chorus of Athenians
  5. On His Grotto at Twickenham
