Edith Matilda Thomas (Эдит Матильда Томас)

A Christmas Spy

When Poebe brought the wood and coal;
  To lay the fire, what did she see
  But Baby--dropped upon one knee
And peering up the chimney-hole!

She never turned her little head,
  With all its curly, yellow hair:
  I asked, "What are you doing there?"
"Me look for Santa Taus!" she said.

Edith Matilda Thomas's other poems:
  1. The Firebrand (Northern Ohio, Christmas Eve, 1804)
  2. The Apple-Blossom Switch
  3. A Question of Spelling
  4. In the Dark Little Flat at the End of the Court
  5. A Water Lily
