Stephen Crane (Стивен Крейн)

* * *

I looked here;
I looked there;
Nowhere could I see my love.
And -- this time --
She was in my heart.
Truly, then, I have no complaint,
For though she be fair and fairer,
She is none so fair as she
In my heart.

Stephen Crane's other poems:
  1. There was, before me
  2. Many workmen
  3. There was a man with tongue of wood
  4. The sage lectured brilliantly
  5. Once a man clambering to the housetops
