Poem by Joaquin (Cincinnatus Hiner) Miller

The Sierra Nevadas

Serene and satisfied! Supreme! As lone
As God, they loom like God's archangels churl'd;
They look as cold as kings upon a throne;

A line of battle-tents in everlasting snow.
