Poem by Joaquin (Cincinnatus Hiner) Miller

* * *

A dull eyed rattlesnake that lay
All loathsome, yellow-skinned, and slept,
Coil'd tight as pine-knot, in the sun
With flat head through the center run,
Struck blindly back.

1. Sea-Blown
2. By the Pacific Ocean
3. To Russia
4. In Southern California
5. Don't Stop at the Station Despair
