Poem by Robert Louis Stevenson

* * *

MY love was warm; for that I crossed
The mountains and the sea,
Nor counted that endeavour lost
That gave my love to me.

If that indeed were love at all,
As still, my love, I trow,
By what dear name am I to call
The bond that holds me now

1. I Know Not How, But As I Count
2. Ad Martialem
3. Songs of Travel and Other Verses. 34. To My Old Familiars
4. A Valentine's Song
5. Songs of Travel and Other Verses. 14. Bright is the ring of words
